Tech Firm Secures Funding to Support Medical Equipment Program | Midlands Offers News

A technology company in Leamington has secured funding to support a program capable of tracking and monitoring thousands of medical equipment required by the NHS to help patients across the UK.

Everyware Ltd, which is based at the Chandos Business Center on Warwick Street, has been helping businesses in the UK and Europe digitally track and remotely monitor critical or high-value products since 2015.

After receiving a grant from uxplore, the company is now working with the NHS on a pilot project to add sensors to the equipment, including 24/7 pain-relieving syringe pumps for patients in traveling who are receiving cancer treatment.

uxplore is a project led by the University of Coventry, in collaboration with the CU group at large, in partnership with the Growth Hub of Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP) and the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce. It is partly financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Annette MacDougall, Managing Director of Everyware, said: “It’s actually a sea change for us to be able to drive our existing technology using 5G.

“The sensors will deliver data to the healthcare provider faster and more efficiently via 5G, which has increased patient benefits and NHS trust.

“By working with uxplore, we were able to demonstrate that the use of 5G capabilities is important on many levels, especially for fixed assets indoors or mobile assets outdoors.

“Very often these medical devices can get lost and there is a high demand so we are delighted to do this as it has never been done before. Not only will it benefit, but most importantly, the patients, but it will also help the NHS to digitally track and monitor its equipment.

uxplore aims to provide a range of digital connectivity services to businesses in Coventry and Warwickshire with less than 250 employees.

Jim Vithanage, account manager for the uxplore project at the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Business Partnership Growth Center (CWLEP), added: “As Everyware has demonstrated, uxplore is perfect for SMEs looking to develop their ideas. innovative using 5G and digital connectivity as they can apply for the co-funded grants that are available. ”
