MORRIS PLAINS –The area near the Foxwood and Davenport Village condos will see several infrastructure upgrades thanks to funding secured by Rep. Mikie Sherrill, D-11, borough officials announced in a news release.
The more than $130,000 project will include new sidewalks, crosswalks, intersection improvements and traffic signal optimizations near Foxwood condos and Davenport Village, Mayor Jason Karr said.
The new and improved pedestrian corridor was part of the borough’s 2018 Master Plan Review Report and is also supported by the Morris County Traffic Component of the Morris County Master Plan, Karr said.
Sherrill secured funding for the 10 community projects she submitted on behalf of the 11th District in the House Appropriations Committee bill for fiscal year 2022, which was signed into law Tuesday, March 15.
The 10 projects range from improving infrastructure and mental health support programs to expanding affordable housing.
Karr said he would like to thank Sherrill on behalf of the residents of Morris Plains, the borough council and himself for funding better connectivity for over 400 residents of Foxwood and Davenport Village condos for access safe pedestrian at New Jersey Transit. and public transportation as a walk or bike option to downtown and other walking trail options.
