A community group responsible for the city’s Christmas lights and upcoming Jubilee celebrations has received much-needed municipal funding.

Christmas in Potters Bar has been awarded part of a £14,000 grant from Hertsmere Borough Council’s Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme as one of many groups actively supporting the community.

“I am delighted that we have been able to support a range of community groups and charities in our borough through this latest round of WIIS funding,” said Councilor Meenal Sachdev, portfolio holder for Community, Recreation , culture and health.

“The latest group of schemes to receive support really shows the wide range of programs and activities that can benefit from this funding.”

“Grants help community organizations and projects actively involved in supporting residents.

“Whether it’s boosting morale by decorating the neighborhood; help people feel less isolated by supporting their local community group; or provide financial assistance to organizations that do so much to help communities in need.

A smaller sum of money was also given to Potters Bar Green School for the improvement of its library.
