Irish Water recently secured funding to complete work at the Kiltimagh Water Treatment Plant.
That’s according to Fine Gael deputy Michael Ring, who says the works will add enough resilience to allow a connection from the Cleragh Community Water Connection scheme.
The existing Kiltimagh water treatment plant is currently operating at capacity limit.
An upgrade to the existing plant is required to facilitate a connection for the Cleragh community and to support future growth in the area.
The project has been handed over to Irish Water’s Asset Delivery team with an estimated completion date of mid-2023.
In the meantime, Irish Water will be working with Cleragh CWC and the Rural Water Section of Mayo County Council to advance the network extension works needed to facilitate the proposed connections.
Once a detailed design has been finalized and a proposed contractor has been approved, Irish Water will work with the Rural Water Section to ensure alignment between the completion of the plant upgrade works water treatment and network extension works.
