Barrow Music gets financial boost

BARROW Music has secured £28,000 to develop the event following a successful bid to Arts Council England.

Barrow Music is a creative collaboration between The Forum, South Lakes Rock School and various local organizations including Barrow Underground Music Society, BarrowFull and Barrow Bid.

Now in its second year after a successful pilot in 2021, BarrowMusic #2, taking place September 29-October 2, will see an eclectic program of live music and performances across the city alongside a conference on the music industry/education to inspire young people, elevate aspirations and provide opportunities to learn about career and leisure paths in the creative music industry.

A primary school singing event “Sing22” at the Forum will kick off the event.

Later in the evening, LA14 LIVE, supported by Barrow BID, will see audiences guided on an entertaining musical tour around four venues in the city centre, each featuring a different band with Voodoo Radio and Indigo Youth confirmed.

The theme for this year’s annual music industry conference for local youth is “Aspiring to Inspire: Pathways and Progression in Music”.

A Tea Dance for fans of vintage music and dance will take place at Barrow Market Hall on Friday afternoon and in the evening the Graffiti Classics will make a welcome return to Barrow after their hugely successful Playground Proms, breaking into the hotel from town of Barrow for a family show with their singing and dancing string quartet!

Other events taking place will include the Little Fish Big Fish Baby Rave and a silent disco.
