Automated QA startup QA Wolf launches with $20M in funding

Start of automated quality assurance QA Wolf Inc. launched today in stealth mode with $20.1 million in funding to bolster its team and expand its product experience.

Inspired Capital led the round with Notation Capital, CoFound and several individual investors, including Peter Thiel, also participating.

Founded in 2019, QA Wolf bills itself as transforming the $40 billion software testing market with a unique combination of technology, automation, and in-house expertise. The company says its “effortless” automated quality assurance provides 80% coverage in four months, compared to typical rates of 50% at many companies.

QA Wolf works by getting to know the applications and then building a comprehensive plan, starting with the critical flows. Once a plan is in place, QA Wolf codes end-to-end testing using Microsoft Corp.’s Playwright, a web-based testing and automation framework that doesn’t lock in customers.

As coverage is established, QA Wolf integrates with existing development processes and begins to run tests. Tests are run 100% in parallel with results delivered in minutes instead of hours or days.

However, the process does not stop at testing alone, with QA Wolf also investigating each failure. If there is a test code problem, they fix it, but if it is a bug, they create a report that includes replication steps, video recording, and logs to provide a clean, actionable signal.

“With engineering talent more scarce and more expensive than ever, development teams typically don’t have the time or expertise to write and maintain end-to-end tests in-house,” Jon Perl, co-founder and CEO of QA Wolf, said in A declaration. “We provide a bespoke solution that not only assists but complements the work for our customers, ensuring high test coverage with the least amount of effort from their team’s engineering resources.”

Although only launching today on a stealth basis, the company already has a large customer base and has seen revenue quintuple in the past nine months, although it did not disclose a specific figure. . Notable clients include Gumroad Inc., MainStreet Work Inc., Mailchimp, Possible, Replay, and Padlet. QA Wolf customers run over 250 automated tests every day, which equates to more than 20 hours of manual testing per customer per day.
